Let’s Hear It For the Moms

Earlier this year I joined a community of writers that have totally rocked my world. A piece I wrote about mom guilt was accepted to be published on Her View From Home, after a great many rejections of other pieces, and I was thrilled.

What I found was that publishing this article meant a lot more than just getting my name and words out there into the world. It mean joining a group of some of the most talented, compassionate and supportive women I’ve yet to meet. It’s been a honor to join their ranks, air my insecurities, and share words from my mama heart that bring in a bit of humor, and a lot of soul.

If you are a mom who could use some online chicken soup, I can’t recommend this site more strongly. If you are a mom and a writer, consider submitting a little piece of your heart for publication. They are always accepting new writers, they pay you for your writing because the mantra there is “your words have worth” and honestly, what do you have to lose? I can tell you that the pile of rejections was worth it for the one yes that has turned into three.

Dear Mama, You Don’t Always Have To Be Happy

Today I have a new article up on Her View From Home that I wanted to share with you. It’s for the mom who isn’t happy all the time. So maybe every mom?

The kind of unhappy I’m talking about is not a deep unhappy, or a daily unhappy. I’m very fortunate for that. It is the kind of unhappy that pops up now and again when you have had a rough day and nothing seems to be going your way. You just aren’t happy in that moment, and it is showing all over your face. No matter how much you love and adore your children, your spouse, or your job, it happens.

The kicker of this piece is that I don’t necessarily think that being unhappy, and letting your kids see that from time to time, is a bad thing.

While you are there on Her View From Home make sure to pop over to my friend’s articles too. If you’re a new mom, a single mom, a military mom, a religious mom, or a mom trying to “have it all” you’re going to find something that tugs on your heart strings and makes you feel like you’re not alone in this grand parenting experiment.

Now before I get WAY too sappy on you, because that’s not my jam, I’ll leave you with a Her View From Home meme. Mamas can have heart, soul, and a tongue in cheek sense of humor. Go figure huh? 🙂
